SUPPORTING “THE FASTEST AND GREATEST” FOR PEOPLE AFFECTED BY TYPHOON NO. 3

The Relief Mobilization Committee at all levels will announce the list of individuals receiving support in the mass media for public oversight.

On the afternoon of September 26, in Hanoi, Mr. Do Van Chien, Political Bureau Member, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC), received donations from businesses, organizations, and individuals. The goal was promptly allocating these funds through the Central Relief Mobilization Committee to people in provinces heavily affected by Typhoon No. 3.

Ms. To Thi Bich Chau, Vice Chairwoman of the VFFCC, was also in attendance.

Chairman Do Van Chien and Vice Chairwoman To Thi Bich Chau received a donation of VND 500 million from the staff of DaiDung Corporation.

Specifically, Chairman Do Van Chien received VND 700 million from the Nghe Tinh Business Association in Ho Chi Minh City; VND 500 million from the staff of DaiDung Corporation; VND 700 million from the Entrepreneurs for the Community Fund of the Ho Chi Minh City Business Association (HUBA); and VND 300 million from the Thanh Hoa Entrepreneurs Club in Ho Chi Minh City.

After receiving the donations, on behalf of the Presidium of the VFFCC, Chairman Do Van Chien expressed his deep gratitude for the noble acts of businesspeople in Ho Chi Minh City, who joined hands to support and share with the difficulties faced by people heavily impacted by Typhoon No. 3.

According to Chairman Do Van Chien, Typhoon No. 3 has caused significant damage to both lives and property in several provinces. Thousands of homes have collapsed, been unroofed, or severely damaged; thousands of hectares of rice and crops have been submerged or destroyed; and many roads, schools, medical facilities, and public works have suffered extensive damage. The estimated damage amounts to nearly VND 60 trillion.

In response to these losses, the Presidium of the VFFCC has organized a fundraising event to support the people affected by Typhoon No. 3. The Presidium called on the entire nation, as well as overseas Vietnamese, the member organizations of the Front, social organizations, businesses, philanthropists inside and outside the country, and foreigners living and working in Vietnam, to offer support in both spirit and material, contributing to the government’s efforts to restore production and the livelihoods of affected communities.

Promoting the tradition of solidarity and the spirit of mutual assistance, many agencies, businesses, organizations, and individuals, both inside and outside the country, have contributed to the Central Relief Mobilization Committee. As of now, the total amount of donations has reached nearly VND 1.8 trillion.

Chairman Do Van Chien affirmed that, with the spirit of providing “the highest and fastest” level of support to the families affected by Typhoon No. 3, the Central Relief Mobilization Committee will effectively allocate the donated resources without waste or corruption, ensuring that those affected can overcome difficulties and quickly stabilize their lives.

Chairman Do Van Chien also stated that the Central Relief Mobilization Committee has provided VND 1.035 trillion to the affected provinces in two phases. Moving forward, based on the damage reports from the localities, the committee will continue to allocate further donations to the actual situation.

“At the local level, the Provincial and City Relief Mobilization Committees will distribute the received funds to the district and commune levels and post the list of beneficiaries at local government offices, as well as announce it in the mass media for public oversight” emphasized Chairman Do Van Chien.

Chairman Do Van Chien expressed his hope that in the future, every businessperson and business in Ho Chi Minh City, as well as agencies, companies, organizations, and individuals both inside and outside the country, will continue to work with the Vietnam Fatherland Front to further care for people experiencing poverty and those facing difficulties across the country.

Chairman Do Van Chien received a VND 300 million donation from the Thanh Hoa Entrepreneurs Club in Ho Chi Minh City.

Sharing his thoughts as he handed over the donation to the Central Relief Mobilization Committee, Mr. Le Van Chi Huy, Vice President of the Thanh Hoa Entrepreneurs Club in Ho Chi Minh City and Vice General Director of Huy Hoang Gia Scrap Co., Ltd., said that as a club consisting of businesses and entrepreneurs working in Ho Chi Minh City, upon hearing about the severe damage caused by Typhoon No. 3 in the northern provinces, each individual in the club felt a responsibility to contribute, donating a total of VND 500 million.

Of this amount, VND 300 million was allocated to the provinces of Yen Bai, Lao Cai, and Thai Nguyen. At the same time, VND 200 million was directly delivered to some of the regions most heavily affected by the typhoon and flooding.

“We hope that this contribution will help the provinces increase resources to support people with housing, restore production, and provide school supplies for students from poor and near-poor households so they can continue their education,” Mr. Le Van Chi Huy expressed.
