BSI OFFICIALLY AWARDS GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSION INVENTORY CERTIFICATION TO DDC

Recently, DaiDung Corporation (DDC) has been awarded the greenhouse gas emission inventory verification and reporting certificate for its factory operations by the British Standards Institute (BSI) in compliance with ISO 14064-1:2018 and for greenhouse gas emissions in the lifecycle of products, meeting ISO 14067:2018 standards. DDC is the first company in the steel structure and mechanical engineering industry to conduct an inventory based on these standards, even though it is optional under Decision 01/2022/QD-TTg. Furthermore, according to the (EU) Regulation 2023/956 issued on 10/05/2023 by the European Commission regarding the establishment of a carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM), this certification is a necessary preparation for compliance, laying the foundation for DDC to penetrate deeper into European markets and other countries applying CBAM.

This certification marks a new milestone for DDC in its pursuit of strategic goals: excellent growth, excellent workforce, excellent management, excellent service and quality, and sustainable development.

The evaluation process for the monitoring and control system was conducted through interviews, observations, and field inspections. Data verification was also done through sampling, tracing, cross-checking, and comparison. This process spanned eight months, starting in January 2024 and concluding at the beginning of September 2024.

Mr. Doan Van Khai, Business Development Director and Head of Digital Trust at BSI, shared: “The inspection and reporting results demonstrate DDC’s strong commitment to emission reduction and sustainable development. This also proves its management capacity, transparency, and green commitments. Beyond this, BSI hopes that DDC will continue to lead as a model for Vietnamese enterprises in both domestic and international markets.”

DDC and BSI Have Spent Eight Months Completing the Greenhouse Gas Emission Inventory and Reporting

Following verifying greenhouse gas emission factors, DDC will explore and implement solutions to reduce emissions across all production and business stages, aiming for carbon neutrality.

In Vietnam, Decree No. 06/2022/ND-CP, which stipulates the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and ozone layer protection, is an essential legal basis for promoting emission reduction actions and improving living environments. This aligns with Dai Dung Group’s development approach over the past 30 years, integrating carbon neutrality and emission reduction goals into its growth strategy to contribute to greening the global steel structure and mechanical engineering industries. DDC plans to continue implementing its strategic objectives and meeting the criteria set out in the European market’s carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM).

Most of DDC’s standards have been met, especially the new CBAM requirements. Partners have also required DDC to inventory greenhouse gas emissions. We are pioneers in investing in modern technology to reduce emissions. DDC has equipped itself with intelligent welding robots, automatic cutting devices using AI, and design software integrated with automation devices. DDC is building new factories, and all activities are directed toward sustainable development. However, these certifications are just the beginning of a phase that will see increased investment in technology and clean energy application at DDC,” said Mr. Trinh Van Huyen, Deputy General Director of DDC.

The new milestones DDC has achieved on the path to emission reduction demonstrate the firm determination of the leadership team and the accomplishments born from meticulous and long-term preparation. This also highlights DDC’s efforts to fulfill its mission to “Bring Vietnam to the World,” contributing to building a solid and prosperous Vietnam grounded in the core values of Aspiration – Creativity – Quality – Prestige – Sharing.
