Spanning across the Hoai River – the central landscape axis of Hoi An Ancient Town – Moonlight Bridge is a contemporary architectural work designed in harmony with the UNESCO-recognized cultural heritage surroundings.
Inspired by the full moon nights of the old town, the bridge introduces a new architectural language – romantic and deeply symbolic of local values such as reunion and connection. This poetic idea is brought to life through the use of curved steel structures – a technical solution that requires high precision in design, fabrication, and installation, while meeting both aesthetic and functional needs, and respecting the integrity of the heritage site.
DaiDung Group, Vietnam’s leading company in steel structures and mechanical engineering, served as the key structural contractor for this project. The bridge uses large-span steel beams fabricated at the factory and transported for quick and efficient installation on-site. This method helped shorten construction time and minimize impact on the heritage space, in strict compliance with the principle of “respecting the context and preserving heritage integrity.”
More than just a pedestrian bridge, Moonlight Bridge is a symbol of new approaches in urban planning and infrastructure design within historically and culturally significant cities. It stands as a clear example of how modern steel structures can be applied in harmony with heritage – creating a delicate balance between tradition and innovation, between preservation and sustainable development.
